First Man Killed in PIKE COUNTY
Looking Due North you see Dutys Knob,
Taken its name by, man name of Duty
cut a man by the name of Priest with
a Knife, Hiding here where he could see
his Victim carried to Cemetery if he died
and "He died." This was done at the Home of
Mrs. Tilda Smith, now known as Weddington
Branch. Duty, made his escape.
Looking south at Lovers Leap Rock

took its name by a Man named Bowen was
chased by Indians on this rock. He jumped off
into the river, Knowing under this rock was a cave
a safe place for hiding from Indians.
He also fought with and killed a (BAR) on this
rock.
