Description	At the annual alumni banquet held June 9, 1925, chairman Captain W. I. Jones welcomed distinguished guest and speaker the Hon. John H. Kirby, of Houston, Texas. Mr. Kirby compared the famous pioneers of Tennessee with the heroes of Texas, and he made his support for eastern Tennessee education clear. The $1,000.00 memorial Fred A. Jones Scholarship was announced at the meeting.
