| Title | Pioneers / [unknown]. In Mountain herald / Lincoln Memorial University. |
| Description | An article from the "Mountain Herald" about Lincoln Memorial University as a "living memorial to Abraham Lincoln" in the famous area of Cumberland Gap: where the states of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky intersect. It was through this mountain pass that Daniel Boone "made his trail" and where thousands of men, women, and children came from Virginia, Tennessee and the Carolinas, to form a "continuous stream of human beings" 26as pioneers and missionaries "in the cause of civilization." Daniel Boone's Trail has since become "a beautiful asphalt highway which winds through the mountains of these three states "" with accompanying commemorative markers and statues to remind us of the region's history. |
