| Description | An article from the "Mountain Herald" about the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of Grace Nettleton Home: an orphanage for homeless children of the mountains, managed by Lincoln Memorial University. Founded by Mr. F. E. Nettleton, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, it was originally intended to be a memorial to his only child, Grace, who died when she was only twelve years old. Over five hundred girls have come into the home since it's inception, under the guidance of superintendents Miss Emily Winters (until 1913) and the current Miss Elizabeth Jackson. |
